Creative Writing: Nonfiction

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the craft of creative nonfiction. Among the genres discussed are the personal narrative, the memoir, nature and travel writing, and literary journalism. Students will read texts from across time and nationality for their craft, style, and technique. Students will work on writing projects that will enable them to understand the narrative process as well as be able to create original pieces of writing. By the end of the course, students should develop the terminology and the critical skills for revising nonfiction and gain a deeper understanding of issues and trends in the genre
