Catalog description

This course focuses on foundational components of reading instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The course focuses on the reading process with an emphasis on best practices and connections to theories regarding how children learn to read and write, and explores the stages of literacy development, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This course includes an overview of literacy assessments and interventions for struggling readers and students with characteristics of dyslexia.
