EDCI 3400 Culturally Responsive Pedagogy Seminar (2). A seminar designed to develop awareness and understanding of diversity in education including cultural, linguistic, ethnic, religious differences as well as issues related to students with special needs, trauma impacted students, and the LGBT community. This seminar is designed to aid the student in becoming aware of, understanding and being sensitive to the needs and interests of ethnic and cultural groups, the underlying philosophy being that the differences and similarities that characterize individuals and groups should be cherished for their worth and cultivated for the benefits they bring all people. Teacher candidates must be aware of these differences and learn culturally responsive ways to support their individual PK-12 student needs. 30 30 Required for B.S.
