Catalog description

This course presents both theory and practical lab exercises of operating systems. The course will start with a brief historical perspective of the evolution of operating systems over last five decades and then cove the major components of the most operating systems. Particular emphasis will be given to five core components of OS: process management, memory management, inter-process communication, file systems, and I/O manager. The lab exercises are based on Linux and Mac OS.
