Human Gross Anatomy (GA) provides undergraduate students with in-depth anatomical training. A thorough comprehension of anatomy is at the core of biological anthropology, functional anatomy, comparative evolutionary research, and other biological anatomical topics. Skeletal function and form, often subjects of analysis in these fields, cannot be fully interpreted and understood without the context of the soft tissues-from muscles and ligaments to blood vessels and organs-that surround and interact with the bones. The use either of mannequin or cadaver-based dissection, students experience the best method by which to learn about specific structures of the human body, their integration, and, most importantly, variation among humans. 2 Lecture classes (1.5 hrs each), 1 Lab class (3 hrs) Biology majors or permission from the department required.
