Catalog description
Data make up the most expensive component of a GIS and account for billions of dollars of expenditures annually. Metadata is data about data. It documents critical information about the data and the procedures used to create and maintain the data. This course explains metadata and its components, and teaches GIS users the how and why of documenting their data. Methodology and standards will follow the Federal Geographic Data Committee’s Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata and will conform to the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.
