Catalog description

This course explores the connection between preaching and worship and studies the Christian traditions and practices that unite them. Students will study multiple modes and manners of preaching and engage with diverse approaches to sermon development and delivery, including online delivery. Using an exegetical method, students will take a text from a first reading to the substance of an actual sermon, written and delivered before others in the PREACH Lab. Intentional exposure to external instructors and chapel guests will contribute to course instruction offering students wide exposure to preaching styles from a breadth of cultural contexts. Meets foundational core speaking (SP) requirement.
