Catalog description
An introduction to the fundamental principles of biochemistry focusing on the structure and function of biomolecules such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The relation between structure and function is explored in such topics as enzyme kinetics, the chemistry of major metabolic pathways and their regulation. This course is designed for chemistry, biology, and Pre-Med related majors with a background in organic chemistry. Prerequisite: CHE 311. BIO 201 is strongly recommended.
