Catalog description

An introduction to the American education system, with emphasis on the social foundations of public education. Overview of the teaching profession and contemporary issues affecting teachers and students. Recommended for students considering a career in any area of education. Required field experience of 15 hours is a mandatory component of successful completion of the course. This course fulfills one of the lower division education core prerequisites for teacher education majors at all colleges and universities in the state of Florida. Must earn a grade of "C" or better for credit to be awarded.
