Immigration Law Practicum

Catalog description

This course provides students with a study of the substantive and procedural aspects to practicing before the various federal jurisdictions and agencies implicated in immigration law. Topics include pathways to immigration status in the United States with particular emphasis on family-based benefits, humanitarian relief, and removal defense. Working in teams, students will develop client counseling skills, develop oral and written advocacy skills, and gain practical experience in a range of assignments, such as preparing and filing applications and evidentiary support for immigration benefits or relief from removal, participating in immigration court hearings, and drafting agency filings and briefs.
