Sociological perspectives on mental health and illness, including their social histories; includes evaluation of social factors and processes involved in modern approaches to the causes and treatment of mental illness; problems of definition and diagnosis; recent research findings in areas of epidemiology, institutional care and control of the mentally ill, the care of mental patients, and social issues.
