Prerequisites: Junior or senior standing or instructor permission. The institutional and human force of story in race/sex/politics; legitimizing myths of the U.S. political system; limits to the achievement of consensus in group values and politics; standpoints of race/sex/political privilege and disadvantage; difficulties posed to the regime by the refusal of consent; and the transformation and assumption by citizens of self-government.
