Definition of a group; examples of groups; commutative and noncommutative groups; subgroups; cyclic groups and cyclic subgroups; permutation groups; dihedral groups; cosets and Lagrange’s theorem; normal subgroups; group homomorphisms and group isomorphisms; quotient groups; and the Isomorphism Theorems. Offered spring only.
