Methods and materials necessary to become an effective teacher of English; secondary school curriculum, New York State standards for the language arts, planning, assessment, and classroom management; required field experience with emphasis on professional development, on-site observations, practice teaching sessions, interactions with public-school teachers and personnel, and classroom research.
