Child and Adolescent Development in the Digital Age

This course focuses on child and adolescent development in the digital age, with a particular emphasis on how rapidly advancing technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, video games, and social media, reflect, shape, and interact with contemporary child and adolescent socio-emotional development and well-being. We will examine core theories in social and emotional development and consider measures and methods in digital research. Current empirical findings pertaining to technologies and socio-emotional development during different developmental periods (infancy and toddlerhood, childhood, adolescence) and parenting will also be presented, along with careful consideration of the ways in which diverse technologies impact diverse groups of youth and how they develop today.
