Catalog description

From caring for young to (mostly) obeying laws, people routinely place the good of others or society ahead of their immediate gratification. What motivates these behaviors is the focus of this course. We will read and critically discuss recent and classic research addressing these motivations and the diverse contexts in which they play out. Course work will include lectures, small group discussions, and the development of student research proposals.
