Populism, nationalism, and other forms of anti-system politics in the United States and around the world. Causes of political movements that challenge existing social and political norms. Questions of durability and dynamics of movements are also considered? Lectures, discussions, and assignments are directed at examining precursors of populism and nationalism, asking extent these forms constitute a coherent ideology, and comparing U.S. experiences other countries’ in Europe, Latin America, and Asia
