Catalog description

This course explores the institutional, cultural, and constitutional sources of flourishing. Part I introduces the idea of social dynamism and the growth of knowledge. Part II examines the connection between economic prosperity and dynamic evolution of the economy. Part III attempts to locate the explanation of economic dynamism in the legal or institutional structure of a nation, an idea expanded on in part IV, which surveys ideas of openness and relates them to social change. Finally, part V considers risks that dynamic societies face along with solutions that might address these risks.
