This course focuses on the nature of ethical and political aspects of free expression. The first part of the course covers foundational texts on the value and justification of free expression. The second part examines the legal and ethical limits of free speech. Part three of the course explores how free expressions drives the growth of knowledge in society. And part four studies current challenges to free expression in the form of polarization, misinformation, and social media.
