Molecular Neuropsychopharmacology

Catalog description

This advanced undergraduate course explores drug effects on the nervous system, with a focus on cellular and molecular effects on synaptic transmission and relevance to treatment of neurologic and psychiatric disorders. These topics are mainly approached from a methodologic perspective, emphasizing molecular techniques used to study effects of pharmacologic agents on the nervous system and assays and experimental designs involved in preclinical and clinical development of therapeutics used in neurology and psychiatry. The course is delivered via lectures and small group activities designed to foster critical analysis and scientific communication skills, to allow exploration of topics of interest, and to develop in-depth knowledge in the field of neuropsychopharmacology. This course is dual listed with PMY 516.
