Stress and Affective Disorders

Catalog description

The “Stress and Affective Disorders” course is designed to provide you, the undergraduate neuroscience student, with a comprehensive understanding of the neurobiological and psychological underpinnings of stress, depression, and anxiety. Basic concepts on depression and anxiety are explored in NRS301, a required pre-requisite for this class. This 4-credit hour course builds upon that foundational knowledge and extend your knowledge of this topic by combining didactic instruction with a practical lab component. In the lab component, you will engage in hands-on experiments using rodents to explore the behavioral consequences of stress as it relates to depressive- and anxiety-like phenotypes.
