Finance for Entrepreneurs
University at Buffalo (SUNY) · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The course is relevant for aspiring entrepreneurs. This course differs from typical financial management courses, as those courses assume the enterprise is large, mature, and publicly traded. In this course, we assume the firm is a new venture or is very young. New ventures or unlisted firms typically cannot issue stocks and bonds to obtain capital. The objectives of this course are to (1) acquire knowledge of entrepreneurial finance, (2) to develop abilities to identify, analyze, and solve financial problems for new ventures or small and young companies, and (3) to learn how to articulate and demonstrate the growth and value propositions of the start-up or young firm to outside investors.
