Students taking this course should expect to learn about financial markets and financial decision-making. Among others, students will learn about the fundamental principles of risk and return, diversification, and efficient markets. Further, students will study the role of financial markets in the economy, the mechanics of trading, the characteristics and pricing of equity and fixed income. The course will be of particular interest for students who contemplate pursuing a career in the investment industry. The course should also be of interest for anyone investing in the financial markets, for example, for retirement.
