Catalog description

This course surveys the history of the Soviet Union from its origins in the Russian revolutions of 1917 to its dissolution in 1991. We explore the revolutionary era and the establishment of Soviet power; the Stalin era, the Great Terror, and the Great Patriotic War; the reforms of the Khrushchev era and the period of mature socialism. Finally, we examine the USSRs collapse and the emergence of post-Soviet republics. Special emphasis is placed on social and cultural history. EUR
