Catalog description

This course is an intensive workshop in motion picture editing, with an emphasis on both hands-on practice of the editors craft and in-depth study of the art of editing and its role in filmmaking. Editing projects will help students develop conceptual and technical proficiency, including knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, through the practice of a variety of editing strategies and other post production techniques. Readings, writing assignments, and class presentations will deepen students understanding of the role of editing in the practice of filmmaking and storytelling. In addition to developing their creative editing skills, students will develop their writing, communication, oral presentation, and critical thinking skills and their ability to work in groups effectively.
