Catalog description

This course examines the growth of games, both analog and digital, throughout the past several centuries. We will review the basic timeline of their development, seek to understand what makes games unique, and consider the cultural, technical, and economic environments in which they were created. In addition, we will look at the interrelationships among games, and (in particular) how modern video games build on the ideas of earlier pre-digital games.
