Afro-Fusion Dance 2
University at Buffalo (SUNY) · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This is the second level of Afro-Fusion Dance, which centers on dance forms that blend African and contemporary genres and styles. Incorporating elements of Afrohouse and Afrobeat/pop dance (Afro-Fusion), students will examine the different historical and communal compositions of these dances as well as their music, costumes, and props. The course objective is to facilitate an understanding of advanced-beginning Afro-Fusion dance techniques, movement vocabularies, and terminologies while developing an awareness of proper body alignment, musicality, and expressive qualities intrinsic to the form. The skills learned in this course will build on those introduced in Afro-Fusion Dance 1.
