Catalog description
Ornithology is the scientific study of birds. This course is designed to familiarize students with all aspects of ornithology, including taxonomy, evolution, anatomy, behavior, and identification. Lectures will provide a foundation in major topics in ornithology, with an emphasis on evolutionary context. Each topic will be supported by student-led discussion of peer-reviewed journal articles. Students will learn the major taxonomic groups in North America, with an emphasis on New York species. This course is dual-listed with BIO 599.
