Catalog description

Cytogenetics is the study of the chromosomal basis of heredity. This course puts emphasis on chromosome organization and the behavior of chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis. In addition, importance of the mitotic/meiotic spindle and the microtubules that comprise it is stressed throughout the course as themes of the field of cell biology intertwine with those of genetics. Student participation in the course requires completion of fourteen short written assignments on a variety of topics that are presented in the course.
