Catalog description

The course will cover the key concepts and techniques related to parasitology including transmission routes, pathology, epidemiology, ecology and evolution. We will take a taxonomic approach to survey the main groups of parasites, with a particular focus on species of medical and/or veterinary importance. Emphasis will be placed throughout the course on the application of concepts and taxonomy to practical situations and lab elements will give students opportunity to practice parasitological techniques and skills. The course is especially suited for students planning a career in medical, veterinary, public health or epidemiological fields.
