Catalog description

This course offers an advance, in-depth look at how and why symptoms of metabolic disorders manifest due to genetic variations in genes expressed within cells or tissues. Overarching goals of this course are to help students understand why genetic variants do not affect all cell types equally despite pathways being common to most cells, and how a mutation that affects one tissue can result in major issues for other tissues.
