Catalog description
This course introduces the basic terminology, concepts and practices of communicating with typography. It engages the construction of typography from the scale of the letterform to the word, the line, the paragraph and the page/screen.The assignments cultivate craftsmanship and rich conceptual thinking. Developing an appreciation for typography’s formal dimension, the way it looks, equips students with knowledge and concepts that will inform their usage of type to optimize its effect and communicative power. There may be a class fee assessed to your student account.
