Global Issues in Design Practice provides an overview of important global movements in the practice of art, architecture, and environmental design over the past century. Key movements will be examined in relationship to the social, political environmental and economic contexts which either played a role in its formation, or was a reaction against. Develops a framework to recognize the regional societal forces that may impact the production of art, architecture, and environmental design practice. Surveys small, cutting-edge global design organizations through the lens of critical regionalism theory,? utilizing methods of design inquiry to reinforce and/or question its validity. Examines the work of artists, architects, and designers working in different countries across the world. Considers how global climate change is a transformative force, and has renewed interest in environmental design through local practices. Facilitates an understanding and studies the relationship of the design process by various artists, architects, and environmental designers to the particular social, political, environmental, and cultural milieu of the global region their work is generated within.
