Laboratory Animal Technology

Catalog description

Prepares students for careers as laboratory animal technicians. Topics focus ontheoretical and practical aspects of husbandry, restraint, and handling ofcommonly used research animals. Includes preparation of students for moreadvanced coursework in Veterinary Science Technology curriculum byemphasizing aspects of medical terminology and pathology and by accustomingstudents to manipulation of living animals. Safety and humane treatmentemphasized throughout course. (offered fall semester only) (2 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs.laboratory) Prerequisite: VST111, VST114 and VST116 with a minimum grade ofC.
