Survey course introducing terminology and specializations of animal technologyfield. Lectures and demonstrations include role of veterinary technician; careeropportunities; safety, ethics and humane treatment of animals; informationrelated to different classifications and breeds of animals; principles and practicesof animal care in clinics, hospitals and research laboratories; handling andrestraint of large, small and research animals; legal regulations, state and federallaws. Requires two field visits to observe professions in animal health field.Students must demonstrate proof of current tetanus inoculation and provide owntransportation to off-campus field experiences. Registration in this courserequires that students purchase liability insurance through the College. (offeredfall semester only) (1 hr. lecture, 2 hrs. laboratory) No prerequisite.
