This course will explore the operation, diagnosis and repair of passenger vehicleand light truck braking systems and related concerns. Major topics includehydraulic systems, disc brake, drum brake and traction I stability control systems.This course will prepare the student for the ASE "A5" technician certification test.Hands-on tasks required by Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in the area ofbrakes will be covered in detail. This course is designed to prepare the studentfor final hands-on skills validation and is heavily lab based. Students areexpected to register for and attempt the ASE A5 Brakes examination at the endof this class. (offered spring semester only) (.5 hr. lecture, 7.5 hrs. laboratory)Prerequisite: TYT110, TYT161, and TYT162. Corequisite: TYT141.
