Classical Theatre

Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to Classical drama from the fifth century B.C.through the Renaissance. Its aim is to familiarize students with a range ofsignificant texts from the period and to demonstrate how various dramaticconventions function to illuminate their themes and the concerns and beliefs ofthe times from which they emerge. Students will be able to understand and enjoythis important body of dramatic work by both textual study and through a varietyof media. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE Humanities and SUNY-GE The Arts.
