This course will focus on the concepts, research methods, and theories ofsociology. Students will explore the relationship between human behavior andsociety through an examination of culture, socialization, and institutions.Important to this course is a focus on how social forces have shaped -- andcontinue to shape -- individual and group identities as well as inequalities and lifechances. Students will discover how culture and social institutions change overtime with an emphasis on the mechanisms of social change, including collectiveaction. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE Social Sciences and SUNY-GE Diversity.Prerequisite: RDG099 or ESL012 or equivalent.
