Survey of global politics from historical and contemporary perspectives. Explorestheoretical frameworks that provide different perspectives on how theinternational system operates. Topics include: the behaviors of states,nongovernmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and decisionmakers, contemporary global issues and challenges, regional dynamics acrossdiverse geographic areas and cultures including the Middle East, East Asia, andAfrica. Key concepts include, but are not limited to, sovereignty, power,statehood, globalization, conflict, culture, diplomacy, and human rights. Notes: (1)Fulfills SUNY General Education Requirement for (1) Fulfills SUNY-GE WorldHistory and Global Awareness, SUNY-GE Social Sciences and SUNY-GEDiversity. No prerequisite.
