Further develops the role of the practical nurse in application of nursing conceptsto patient centered care. College laboratory sessions are used to introducestudents to nursing procedures, clinical skills, documentation, safe medicationadministration and use of equipment. Using the nursing process, clinicalexperiences offer students the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and clinicalreasoning, and planning the implementation culturally competent, evidence-based care for the adult client with acute and chronic health care needs indiverse populations. Registration requires that students purchase liabilityinsurance through the College. Additional expenses include clinical onboarding,uniforms, lab tote purchases for skills lab and clinical component (5 hrs. lecture,2 hrs. laboratory, 6 hrs. clinical) Prerequisite: BIO105 or (BIO130 and BIO132)with a C or higher, ENG100/ENG101 with a C or higher, PNU116 and PNU119with a C+ or higher. Corequisite: PNU128 and PSY101.
