This course focuses on the nursing care of acutely- and critically-ill adult patientswith complex physical health needs in high acuity settings and also addressesmanagement of adult patients with related chronic conditions. Studentssynthesize prior knowledge with new knowledge of nursing, pathophysiology,pharmacology, and the social determinants of health to make advanced clinicaldecisions, planning and prioritizing nursing care for diverse patient populations.Emphasis is placed on integrating concepts of collaboration, delegation, healthpromotion and maintenance, and evidence-based actions to develop clinicalcompetence. Upon successful completion of the course, students approachtransition into the role of a graduate nurse. Students enrolling in this course areautomatically charged the liability insurance fee.
