Extreme Weather

Catalog description

Students will investigate the causes of extreme weather around the world andhow these extremes have changed over time. The influence of modern climatechange on these events will be a key part of the course as well as how society ispreparing for a future that is expected to experience increased frequency andintensity of many extreme weather events. Historical case studies as well aspresent data will be utilized to achieve these goals. Extreme events covered inthis course will include tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, heat waves, drought, andfloods, among others. Note: Fulfills SUNY-GE Natural Sciences.
