Catalog description
This course is designed to familiarize students with software tools and computerapplications currently used in healthcare settings. An overview of the content andstructure, maintenance, storage and security of the electronic health record andthe personal health record will be examined. Emphasis will be made oninteroperability standards and security, networks, health information exchanges,and consumer informatics. Students will gain hands-on experience working incommon software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) as well asexperience working in a simulated electronic medical record system. (offered fallsemester only) Corequisite: HIT114.
