This course will introduce students to the Health Care Delivery system, the roleof electronic health record systems and health informatics as it relates to datacontent, format and management. Topics include: history and development of theHealth Information Management profession, purposes and components of apatient health record, uses of health information and data sets, organizationalstructure of healthcare organizations, regulatory requirements and accreditationstandards. (offered fall semester only). No prerequisite.
