ESL College Reading I

For students whose native language is not English, ESL011 is first of two courseswhich develop basic English reading skills necessary for content area studyrequired in college. Concentrates on improving reading comprehension byfocusing on main idea, vocabulary development, summary skills and criticalthinking skills. In addition to class discussion on reading process, students alsoparticipate in independent book reading and small group activities. ESL011 andESL012 each require a minimum of one hour per week on selected assignmentsin the Reading Center. Graded on an S/W/U/R basis. No prerequisite.
