Catalog description
The course examines a variety of works of fiction and nonfiction by U.S.-American authors of various racial and ethnic origins. Through close reading andanalysis of short stories, novels, plays, poetry, and essays by Black and AfricanAmerican, Asian American, Latino/a/x, Native American, and other ethnic-minoritywriters, this course explores the social and historical contexts of racial and ethnicidentity and how these identities intersect with class, gender, sexuality, and othersystems of power and privilege. Notes: Fulfills SUNY-GE Diversity and SUNY-GEHumanities. Prerequisite: ENG100 or ENG101.
