Explores principles of rhetoric and stresses effective expository writing. Primarilya course in organization of ideas and development of these ideas through use ofspecific information. Also deals with matters of style, sentence structure,paragraph development, punctuation and vocabulary. Also introduces students toclose reading of appropriate materials. By placement. To be taken prior to higher-numbered courses. Notes: (1) Fulfills SUNY-GE Communication-Written. (2)ENG100 and ENG101 are equivalent and credit will not be given for both.
