Emphasizes basic writing skills, outlining, development of ideas and readingcomprehension. Specific topics in grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabularyand rhetoric are assigned according to needs of the students. To complete thecourse, students are expected to write short expository papers which show anunderstanding of fundamentals of organization and effective sentence structureand which avoid gross errors in grammar and mechanics.
