Curriculum for Young Children: Art,Music, and Movement

Catalog description
This course covers the practice of curriculum development, including activityplans, with a particular emphasis on the curriculum areas of visual arts, music,and movement. Principles of creativity and developmentally appropriate practicewill be presented and applied to the question of how to build a curriculum whichis integrated, child centered, and process-oriented. Includes 3 hours of field visitsto an early childhood program. Registration in this course requires that studentspurchase liability insurance through the College. Note: This course is open to allstudents and can be used as an unrestricted elective in the Liberal Arts andSciences: General Studies Program. Prerequisite: EDU101 or permission of theChair/Academic Dean.
