Catalog description

Study of relationships existing between externally applied forces and internallyinduced stresses and strains in various types of mechanical or structuralcomponents such as welds, bolts, rivets, shafts pressure vessels, beams andcolumns. This is accomplished using principles of stress and strain, Poisson'sratio and thermally introduced loading. (offered fall semester only) (2 hrs. lecture,3 hrs. laboratory) Prerequisite: COT166 and MAT 120 or MAT124.
